Job Description
The Mechanical Fitter installs, maintains and troubleshoots production machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operation of tobacco manufacturing equipment. The role involves routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and modifications as directed by the plant engineer.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in mechanical fitting or similar role
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Install, maintain and repair components of tobacco machinery and equipment
- • Perform routine mechanical inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
- • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and replace faulty parts as needed
- • Carry out equipment modifications and improvements per engineering instructions
- • Lubricate machinery and maintain conveyor belt alignment and speed settings
- • Operate lathe and milling machines for part fabrication
- • Perform welding, fabrication and metal work
- • Resolve motor, conveyor and hydraulic system problems
- • Conduct scaffold erection and work at height safely
- • Inspect and maintain shakers, fans, gearboxes, classifiers and dryers
- • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTOTO) safety procedures
