Job Description
The Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial management of construction projects, preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation while ensuring compliance with JRC and FIDIC contract standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- • Registration with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) – Kenya (preferred)
- • Proven proficiency in CostX and BIM cost‑planning tools
- • Strong knowledge of contract valuation, cost control, and FIDIC standards
- • Minimum five years of experience in commercial management of construction projects
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities, cost estimates, material forecasts, and tender documents
- • Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and detailed risk assessments for projects
- • Administer and review contracts in accordance with JRC and FIDIC standard forms
- • Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and prepare monthly valuation reports
- • Manage variation claims and negotiate interim and final payment certificates with subcontractors
- • Utilize BIM and cost‑estimation software to produce accurate material take‑offs and financial forecasts
- • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and site teams to resolve commercial issues
