Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor works closely with project teams, contractors and clients to manage costs and achieve strong commercial outcomes. Core duties include preparing detailed Bills of Quantities, overseeing tender processes, managing variations and conducting cost forecasting and reporting. The role requires at least seven years of experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects, expertise in cost‑control methods and proficiency with QS software such as CostX or ProEst. A bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying and membership in a recognized professional institute are essential.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • • Minimum 7 years of progressive Quantity Surveying experience with exposure to large‑scale infrastructure and building projects
  • • Proven experience in cost estimation, cost planning, and project cost control
  • • Proficiency with QS software such as CostX, ProEst, or similar, and advanced MS Excel
  • • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and closing final accounts
  • • Thorough understanding of construction law and various contract types
  • • Strong track record in cost planning, valuation, and financial reporting
  • • Active registration with a relevant professional body such as RICS, IQSK, or equivalent
  • • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • • Prepare detailed and accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for complex projects
  • • Oversee tendering processes and evaluate subcontractor quotations
  • • Provide recommendations on subcontractor and supplier appointments
  • • Manage variation claims, progress payments, valuations, and final accounts
  • • Conduct cost forecasting, cost reporting, and project financial analysis
  • • Implement effective budget controls and identify cost‑saving opportunities
  • • Carry out site measurements and valuations as required
  • • Maintain accurate project cost documentation and records
  • • Collaborate with project managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors
  • • Report project cost performance to senior management
  • • Ensure compliance with relevant construction laws, contractual requirements, and company policies
