Job Description
The Retail Underwriting Analyst provides technical support to the underwriting team, ensuring accurate policy processing, risk assessment and compliance with underwriting guidelines. Responsibilities include preparing policy documents, managing information flow between finance and operations, and maintaining high standards of customer service for walk‑in clients and sales channels.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) and relevant professional certificate
- • Minimum 2 years’ experience in insurance underwriting or related field
- • Strong analytical and communication skills
- • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- • Commitment to high standards of customer service
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare policy documents accurately and within established timelines
- • Assess proposed risks according to underwriting standards
- • Provide management information to support business growth objectives
- • Coordinate information flow between Finance and Operations departments
- • Process sales and distribution data to issue new policies promptly
- • Reinstate eligible lapsed policies in line with reinstatement criteria
- • Maintain detailed records of underwritten policies and decisions
- • Review proposal forms for quality and pre‑underwriting compliance
- • Respond promptly to client enquiries and deliver high‑quality customer service
