Job Description

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for accurate recording and reconciliation of all hospital revenue streams, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy and laboratory services. They supervise cashiering operations, prepare periodic revenue reports, and conduct variance analysis to identify and address revenue leakages. The role also ensures compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and tax regulations while supporting internal and external audits.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • BA/BSc/HND or equivalent professional certificate in finance, accounting or a related field.
  • • Minimum three years of revenue accounting or similar experience in a healthcare setting.
  • • Strong knowledge of revenue accounting, reconciliation and financial reporting.
  • • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial record review.
  • • Ability to supervise and guide cashiering teams.
  • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • Demonstrated integrity, accountability and confidentiality.

  • • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of revenue from all hospital service lines.
  • • Reconcile daily collections with hospital management system records and bank deposits, investigating discrepancies.
  • • Verify cashier receipts and classify income by service line and payment method.
  • • Supervise cashiering operations, monitor performance, and oversee payment posting and cash handling.
  • • Review end‑of‑day reconciliations and enforce internal cash‑handling procedures.
  • • Prepare periodic revenue reports by department, payer category and reporting period.
  • • Conduct revenue variance analysis, identify leakages and recommend corrective actions.
  • • Submit timely revenue reports for monthly and year‑end financial reporting.
  • • Maintain complete documentation and audit trails for revenue transactions.
  • • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
