Job Description
The SACCO Chief Executive Officer provides visionary leadership, sets strategic direction, and oversees all operational aspects of the cooperative and its subsidiaries. The CEO advises the Board on performance, risk, and market opportunities while driving growth in membership, deposits, loan portfolio, and revenue. The role ensures robust governance, digital transformation, and high‑quality member service, fostering sustainable development of the institution.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Minimum seven years of senior leadership experience in finance, banking, or cooperative management.
- • Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA, MSc, or MA preferred.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead organisational transformation and manage change.
- • Strong understanding of digital financial services, cybersecurity, and data protection.
- • Proven track record of driving growth and delivering member‑focused services.

Responsibilities
- • Provide strategic leadership and translate the SACCO’s vision, mission, and objectives into measurable business and operational plans.
- • Advise the Board of Directors on strategy, financial performance, emerging risks, market developments, and growth opportunities.
- • Implement Board resolutions, policies, approved budgets, strategic initiatives, and annual business plans.
- • Drive sustainable growth in membership, deposits, loan portfolio, and revenue.
- • Lead organisational transformation, manage change, and promote digital financial services.
- • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, cybersecurity, data protection, and emerging technology standards.
- • Develop, motivate, and lead high‑performing teams to deliver excellent member service.
- • Oversee subsidiaries and ensure alignment with the cooperative’s principles and objectives.
