Job Description
The Sales Engineer will support Timken’s distribution growth across Ethiopia and surrounding East African markets by developing market plans, identifying customers and providing technical product support. The role combines sales activities with engineering expertise to deliver presentations, training and solutions that meet client needs. Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and at least four years of industrial sales experience are required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field
- • Minimum 4 years sales experience in industrial sectors such as bearings or mechanical equipment
- • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and rotating equipment
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- • Proven experience with distributor/channel partner models and industrial procurement processes
- • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills

Responsibilities
- • Develop regional market development plans for Ethiopia and adjacent markets
- • Identify and map target customers, distributors and engineering firms
- • Collect market intelligence on customer needs, competitor activity and industry trends
- • Prepare account insights, opportunity summaries and recommended actions for management
- • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and distributors
- • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations and training sessions
- • Support distributors with product specifications, troubleshooting and after‑sales service
- • Track sales performance, forecast demand and report using CRM tools
