Job Description
The Senior Accountant – Construction oversees the financial management of civil engineering projects, ensuring accurate accounting records and timely reporting. Responsibilities include leading month‑end close, preparing management accounts, handling project cost accounting, and managing cash‑flow forecasts. The role also ensures statutory compliance, coordinates audits, and provides financial analysis to support cost control. Proficiency with Tally ERP and strong analytical skills are essential for success.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) or Diploma with professional accounting certification
- • 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction or project‑based environments
- • Strong practical knowledge of Tally ERP
- • In‑depth understanding of construction accounting, cost control and project cost‑centre accounting
- • Proficiency in budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and financial reporting
- • Knowledge of statutory compliance (VAT, withholding tax, PAYE) and audit processes
- • Ability to prepare and analyze management accounts and profit & loss statements
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records using Tally ERP
- • Lead the monthly accounting close process, ensuring all transactions are recorded in the correct period
- • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements
- • Perform project accounting and cost‑centre accounting for construction projects
- • Prepare budgets and cash‑flow forecasts
- • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier and customer reconciliations
- • Ensure statutory compliance for VAT, withholding tax, PAYE and other regulations
- • Coordinate audit preparation and liaise with auditors
- • Oversee fixed‑asset accounting and depreciation schedules
- • Conduct general ledger and balance‑sheet management
- • Provide financial analysis and identify cost‑control concerns
- • Supervise or review the work of junior accounting staff where applicable
