Job Description
The Senior Finance Officer provides temporary maternity cover for ACTED’s finance team, overseeing accounting and financial management for the Kenya mission. Key duties include preparing journal entries, managing cash and bank books, ensuring correct project cost allocations, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes. The officer also monitors cash flow, prepares financial reports, and assists with project cost control. Candidates must have at least five years of finance or accounting experience and be proficient with ACTED’s financial systems.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND or professional certificate in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
- • Proficiency with ACTED financial systems such as SAGA and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- • High attention to detail, integrity and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- • Strong organisational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities
- • Prepare and consolidate accurate accounting entries for the Nairobi office and field bases.
- • Review and record cash and bank book transactions in line with ACTED procedures.
- • Ensure correct accounting codes and project allocations across all financial transactions.
- • Support monthly and annual accounting closure, including reconciliations and reporting.
- • Monitor cash flow, manage payments and assist with project cost control and financial documentation.
