Job Description
The Senior Legal Counsel – Litigation provides comprehensive legal support to KCB Bank, handling research, case preparation and courtroom representation. The role oversees external counsel, manages litigation databases and advises retail branches on regulatory compliance to mitigate risk. A strong background in banking litigation and excellent drafting skills are essential.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Law
- • Diploma in Law
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal drafting and litigation, preferably within the banking sector
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Conduct legal research and collate evidence for litigation matters
- • Prepare witnesses, develop concept papers and draft legal briefs and opinions
- • Develop defence strategies, arguments and testimony for court or tribunal proceedings
- • Represent the bank as a witness or watch‑brief before courts and tribunals
- • Manage and measure the performance of external lawyers
- • Provide legal awareness and advice to avert or minimise litigation
- • Scrutinise legal fees and ensure compliance with remuneration orders and SLAs
- • Update and maintain the litigation database and generate required reports
- • Render legal guidance to retail branches on bank policies, processes and procedures
