Job Description
The Senior Project Accountant will design and maintain project accounting structures for upstream oil and gas waste management projects. Responsibilities include developing budgeting templates, forecasting capital and operating expenditures, monitoring cost performance, and preparing regular financial reports and dashboards. The role requires ensuring compliance with IFRS and corporate policies while providing variance analysis and cash‑flow forecasts. The position reports to senior finance leadership and supports decision‑making across project teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (BA/BSc/HND).
- • Professional certification such as MBA, MSc or relevant accounting qualification.
- • Minimum six years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in project accounting for the energy sector.
- • Strong knowledge of IFRS and corporate accounting policies.
- • Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Design and implement project accounting frameworks, including chart of accounts, job codes, cost centers, and allocation methods aligned with IFRS.
- • Develop and maintain budgeting structures, standard costing templates, and approval workflows.
- • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for capital and operating expenditures throughout project phases.
- • Monitor project cost‑to‑complete, identify overruns, and recommend corrective actions.
- • Prepare rolling cash‑flow forecasts in collaboration with procurement and operations.
- • Produce monthly and weekly financial reports covering P&L, work‑in‑progress, cost variance, and margin analysis.
- • Create financial dashboards and key performance indicators to support project performance monitoring.
