Job Description
The Senior Technical Project Manager – GIS will lead multi‑sector geospatial projects, acting as the primary liaison for governments, donors and development partners. Responsibilities include translating partner needs into work plans, steering data‑science teams, and delivering high‑quality GIS deliverables on time and within budget.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Geospatial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
- • Minimum of 5 years experience delivering technical projects for governments and donors (World Bank, EU, AfDB, UN, bilateral donors)
- • Proven leadership of multi‑partner projects, preferably from a consulting background
- • Strong hands‑on GIS expertise (QGIS/ArcGIS) and working knowledge of Python, R or SQL
- • Experience with cloud workflows (e.g., GCP/BigQuery) and an AI‑first mindset
- • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills

Responsibilities
- • Lead geospatial client projects from scope definition through delivery, ensuring they stay on schedule, within scope and on budget
- • Serve as the main point of contact for governments, donors and development partners, facilitating workshops and travel as needed
- • Translate partner requirements into detailed work plans and technical specifications for data‑science teams
- • Oversee data collection, validation and quality assurance processes
- • Produce high‑quality reports and presentations to communicate project progress and outcomes
- • Shape project scopes and proposals in collaboration with the business development team
