Job Description
The Structural Engineer leads detailed analysis, design and documentation for complex building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with international codes and Kenyan standards. The role coordinates structural solutions with architectural, MEP and geotechnical teams, provides technical guidance on site, and supports cost control and scheduling. It also mentors junior engineers and promotes sustainable, resilient design practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with a structural focus or a related discipline.
- • Minimum of 7 years’ progressive post‑qualification experience on large‑scale, high‑value building or infrastructure projects.
- • Experience with high‑rise buildings, bridges, complex foundations or other major structures.
- • Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, ANSYS, Revit Structure or RISA‑3D.
- • In‑depth knowledge of international codes and standards including Eurocodes, ACI, AISC, BS and Kenyan standards.
- • Demonstrated experience across the full project lifecycle from conceptual design through construction documentation and site support.
- • Experience in finite element modelling, seismic analysis and design of steel, concrete and post‑tensioned structures.
- • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- • High professional ethics, technical responsibility and a proactive approach to sustainable, resilient design.

Responsibilities
- • Lead detailed structural analysis, modelling, design and calculations for complex projects.
- • Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
- • Coordinate structural designs with architectural, MEP, geotechnical and other engineering disciplines.
- • Provide technical guidance and oversee structural works on site, ensuring construction quality and compliance with approved designs.
- • Conduct structural condition assessments and prepare technical reports.
- • Support structural cost control, budget management and project scheduling.
- • Advise on procurement of key structural materials and systems, including steel, concrete and foundations.
- • Ensure structural works comply with health, safety and environmental requirements and Kenyan regulations.
- • Maintain structural safety certifications and technical documentation.
- • Mentor junior structural engineers and provide technical guidance.
