Job Description
The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and filing a range of statutory tax returns, including VAT, withholding tax and reverse VAT, in compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority regulations. The role involves reviewing tax computations, reconciling payments, and providing guidance on exemptions, remissions and offsets. Additionally, the accountant will identify process improvements, support audit engagements and deliver tax training to internal teams. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in SAP are essential.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- • Professional tax certification preferred
- • Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations, including VAT and income tax
- • Proficiency in SAP for tax reporting
- • Excellent analytical and communication skills
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare and file VAT, withholding tax, reverse VAT and other statutory returns accurately and on time
- • Verify tax computations, rates applied and related payment requests to ensure correctness
- • Reconcile tax payments and manage refunds, including VAT refund audits
- • Ensure timely remittance of import and purchase taxes and avoid over‑ or under‑payment
- • Develop solutions to address audit findings and provide in‑house tax training
- • Advise on tax exemptions, remissions, offsets and the tax implications of transactions
- • Liaise with Kenya Revenue Authority and external auditors on taxation matters
