Job Description
The Teller will handle foreign exchange, money‑transfer and cash‑handling operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory and AML requirements. They will process transactions in the Fabit system, assist customers with remittance services and maintain accurate cash balances. The role also involves thorough customer due‑diligence and preparation of daily transaction reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Minimum O‑level education
- • 1–2 years experience as a teller in a forex bureau, SACCO or mobile banking (M‑Pesa)
- • Experience in operations, cash handling, banking, remittance, payments or financial‑services
- • Supervisory or senior teller experience is preferred
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Buy and sell foreign currency for customers
- • Collect identification documents (National ID or passport) from new customers
- • Register clients in the Fabit system for future transactions
- • Enter transactions in Fabit and issue computer‑generated receipts
- • Issue declaration forms for transactions exceeding KES 1,000,000 and obtain supporting evidence
- • Escalate to compliance/MLRO for PEP customers before processing
- • Assist customers with Western Union, MoneyGram and FX transfers
- • Conduct KYC due‑diligence, capturing source and purpose of funds, relationships and addresses
- • Process M‑Pesa transactions and ensure M‑Pesa KYC is completed
- • Balance cash drawers and coin at shift end, calculate daily transactions
- • Prepare daily transaction reports
