Job Description
The Theatre Nurse provides peri‑operative nursing care within the operating theatre, ensuring patient safety and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the theatre, managing equipment, monitoring patients and maintaining accurate documentation. The role requires a registered nursing qualification and several years of theatre experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BScN, KRN or KRCHN Higher Diploma in Peri‑operative Nursing
- • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid practising licence
- • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including at least 2 years in an operating theatre
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Deliver peri‑operative nursing care to patients before, during and after surgery
- • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating environment and equipment
- • Assist the surgical team with instrument handling and patient positioning
- • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes during procedures
- • Document nursing care, medications and surgical details accurately
- • Coordinate with post‑operative teams to ensure smooth patient handover
