Job Description
The Theatre Nurse provides peri‑operative nursing care to patients undergoing surgery, ensuring safety and high‑quality clinical support throughout procedures. Working closely with surgeons and anaesthesia staff, the nurse prepares the operating theatre, manages equipment, and monitors patient status. The role demands strong clinical expertise, adherence to infection‑control standards, and effective communication within the surgical team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BScN or equivalent nursing degree
- • KRN or KRCHN registration and a valid practising licence with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- • Higher Diploma in Peri‑operative Nursing
- • Minimum 4 years of experience as a registered theatre nurse
- • Strong knowledge of surgical asepsis and patient safety standards

Responsibilities
- • Deliver peri‑operative nursing care before, during and after surgical procedures
- • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating theatre environment
- • Coordinate with surgeons, anaesthetists and support staff to ensure smooth workflow
- • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes during surgery
- • Document nursing interventions and maintain accurate patient records
- • Ensure compliance with infection‑control and safety protocols
