Job Description
The Theatre Nurse provides peri‑operative nursing care, ensuring patient safety before, during, and after surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating theatre, assisting the surgical team, and monitoring patients throughout the procedure. The nurse also maintains sterile technique and documents all nursing activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- • Minimum 1 year experience in operating theatre nursing
- • Knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient monitoring
- • Strong communication and teamwork skills
- • Ability to remain calm and focused in fast‑paced environments
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare the operating theatre, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases
- • Assist surgeons and anesthetists during procedures, ensuring patient safety
- • Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond to intra‑operative changes
- • Maintain strict aseptic technique and manage sterile fields
- • Document nursing care and hand over patients to post‑operative units
