Job Description
The transport lead oversees daily transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant and cost‑effective movement of goods. They manage fleet performance, coordinate drivers and planners, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and safety. The role also involves stakeholder management and coaching of transport staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND or Diploma in a related field
- • Three to five years of experience in transport or logistics management
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Lead and coordinate daily transport activities to meet customer and business requirements
- • Monitor fleet utilisation and optimise routing, load planning and vehicle allocation
- • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- • Track driver progress and resolve any deviations from plan promptly
- • Use transportation management systems to monitor shipments and vehicles in real time
- • Ensure on‑time collection and delivery of shipments
- • Resolve operational issues and service disruptions quickly
- • Supervise transport controllers, planners, drivers and support staff
- • Conduct daily operational briefings and performance reviews
- • Develop employee capability through coaching, mentoring and training
