Job Description
The Waste Truck Assistant/Janitor supports daily waste‑collection operations, ensuring safe handling, transport and cleanliness of collection sites. Responsibilities include assisting the driver, maintaining equipment, and complying with health, safety and environmental standards. The role requires at least three years of relevant experience and a certificate or diploma in a related field.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Certificate or Diploma in Cleaning, Waste Management, Environmental Management or a related field
- • Minimum 3 years of experience in waste collection, janitorial services or facilities management
- • Practical experience handling waste and cleaning equipment
- • Knowledge of basic health, safety, hygiene and sanitation practices
- • Experience in commercial, residential or industrial settings is an advantage
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Assist the waste‑collection team with daily loading, unloading and transport of waste
- • Support the waste‑truck driver on assigned routes and ensure safe movement of waste
- • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene around collection points and assigned areas
- • Perform general cleaning, sanitising and upkeep of equipment and workspaces
- • Use and care for required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- • Follow health, safety, hygiene and environmental procedures and report any hazards
- • Communicate operational issues such as missed collections or access challenges to supervisors
- • Collaborate with drivers, supervisors and other team members to meet collection schedules
