Job Description
The Commercial Vehicle Welder will fabricate, fit and weld structural components for trucks, buses and specialized bodies, ensuring all work meets exact engineering specifications and safety standards. The role requires interpreting technical drawings, operating a range of welding equipment and performing rigorous quality inspections on completed welds.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or vocational qualification in welding or a related technical field
- • 2–5 years’ experience welding structural components for commercial vehicles
- • Advanced proficiency in MIG/MAG and TIG welding techniques across various metals
- • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering/CAD drawings
- • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality assurance
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Fabricate, fit and weld chassis frames, sub‑frames, safety cages and exterior panels for commercial vehicles
- • Interpret engineering and CAD drawings to produce components to precise dimensions
- • Perform MIG/MAG and TIG welding on steel, aluminum and stainless‑steel parts while controlling heat distortion
- • Prepare workpieces by cleaning, beveling, clamping and tack‑welding before final welds
- • Operate workshop machinery such as angle grinders, plasma cutters, drill presses and guillotine shears
- • Inspect welded joints for structural strength and bead quality, ensuring compliance with safety standards
