Job Description

The Wood Production Manager will oversee the entire manufacturing process for bespoke furniture, from material selection through final quality inspection. Responsibilities include planning production schedules, monitoring material utilization, and leading continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and product quality. The manager will coordinate with stores, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. A degree in engineering or wood science and extensive managerial experience are required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Wood Science, Industrial Processes, or a related field.
  • • Minimum 5 years’ relevant managerial experience in woodworking, joinery, furniture manufacturing, or interior fit‑out.
  • • Strong knowledge of joinery workshop operations and wood‑working machinery.
  • • Proven people‑management, leadership, and team‑coordination skills.

  • • Prepare and implement production plans based on customer orders.
  • • Review execution of production plans and adjust to meet delivery timelines.
  • • Coordinate work‑in‑progress using workflow charts and tracking systems across departments.
  • • Monitor raw‑material utilization from estimation to production, minimizing waste.
  • • Schedule timely production of standard and custom products to maintain stock levels.
  • • Participate in new product design and development to improve quality and customer experience.
  • • Ensure supervisors prepare accurate shift reports and conduct effective handovers.
  • • Review departmental production reports and monitor performance against targets.
  • • Liaise with stores to confirm material availability and manage reordering.
  • • Oversee all floor activities, emphasizing quantity, efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
  • • Lead brainstorming and continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance OEE.
  • • Encourage staff to propose and implement innovative production ideas.
  • • Enforce company policies, safety requirements, and operational standards.
  • • Communicate production objectives and expectations clearly to all staff.
  • • Prepare and submit production and performance reports to management.
