Job Description

The Tax Accountant will ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax legislation while providing tax planning and reporting support to the finance team. Responsibilities include preparing and filing statutory returns, conducting VAT and transaction reviews, and coordinating KRA audits. The role also involves risk management, internal control strengthening, and collaboration with operational units to support sound business decisions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related field
  • • CPA(K) qualification is an advantage
  • • Minimum 4 years of hands‑on tax accounting, advisory or statutory compliance experience
  • • Experience with KRA audits and tax reconciliations
  • • Prior experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG or processing is a plus
  • • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • • Manage all tax compliance obligations, including preparation and timely filing of VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, withholding taxes and statutory deductions
  • • Prepare tax reconciliations, provisions and supporting schedules for monthly and annual reporting
  • • Review business transactions to ensure correct tax treatment and advise on tax implications
  • • Coordinate KRA audits, assessments and other statutory engagements, providing required documentation
  • • Monitor changes in tax legislation, identify risks and implement corrective actions
  • • Support accounts payable and receivable functions when needed
  • • Partner with management and operational teams to promote compliant business processes
