Job Description

The assistant accountant will maintain accurate accounting records, process payables and receivables, and prepare bank reconciliations and cash‑flow reports. They will support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as budgeting and forecasting activities. Additional responsibilities include payroll processing, inventory verification, and assisting internal and external audits. The role requires at least three years of relevant experience in a busy commercial environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Minimum KCSE (O Level) qualification.
  • • At least CPA Part II certification
  • CPA qualification is an advantage.
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.

  • • Maintain accurate accounting records, ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
  • • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly.
  • • Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash‑flow movements.
  • • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • • Verify and post financial transactions into the accounting system.
  • • Ensure compliance with applicable tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • • Assist in payroll processing and reconciliation of staff‑related financial records.
  • • Monitor and reconcile supplier, customer, and general ledger accounts.
  • • Participate in stock, inventory, and asset verification exercises.
