Job Description
The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the Engineering Manager in planning, coordinating, and monitoring plant maintenance and engineering projects to ensure reliable and efficient operations. The role provides technical leadership, drives continuous improvement, and oversees budgeting, supplier management, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
- • Professional registration with relevant engineering body (preferred)
- • Minimum five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG or food processing
- • Proven experience in maintenance planning, project coordination, and equipment reliability improvement

Responsibilities
- • Plan, coordinate, and monitor engineering and maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability
- • Assist in execution and monitoring of engineering projects within budget and schedule
- • Deputize for the Engineering Manager, leading day‑to‑day engineering operations
- • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes
- • Monitor performance indicators and implement improvement initiatives
- • Manage engineering budgets, maintenance costs, and resource utilization
- • Process material requisitions for spare parts and tools
- • Supervise supplier engagement and contractor performance
- • Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- • Identify opportunities for process optimization, energy efficiency, and cost reduction
- • Ensure compliance with EHS, food safety, and statutory regulations
- • Prepare engineering and maintenance performance reports for management
- • Mentor and coach engineering staff to enhance capabilities
