Job Description

The Finance Manager directs all financial activities for the hospital, including reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance. By preparing accurate statements and providing insights to senior leadership, the manager supports strategic decision‑making and cost optimisation. The role also oversees accounts receivable/payable, tax filings, and internal controls to safeguard assets. Leadership, strong analytical abilities, and experience in healthcare finance are essential.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (e.g., CPA)
  • • Minimum 8 years experience in finance management, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards
  • • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication abilities
  • • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

Responsibilities

  • • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/Kenya standards
  • • Analyse financial performance and present insights on trends, budget variances, and operational results
  • • Produce detailed reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • • Explain budget‑vs‑actual variances and identify cost‑saving or revenue‑enhancement opportunities
  • • Lead the annual budgeting process with department heads to create realistic budgets aligned with hospital goals
  • • Review and monitor monthly budget performance, taking corrective actions as needed
  • • Conduct regular financial forecasting and adjust budgets based on operational changes
  • • Manage the hospital’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and long‑term investments
  • • Oversee accounts receivable and payable to guarantee timely collections and payments
  • • Monitor daily cash position and forecast future cash requirements to maintain adequate working capital
  • • Ensure compliance with local tax laws and file required returns such as VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax
  • • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide accurate documentation
  • • Implement and monitor internal financial controls to prevent fraud and inefficiencies
  • • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and healthcare standards to maintain compliance
  • • Provide financial insights and analysis to the executive team to support strategic decisions
