Job Description
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for maintaining and repairing crusher plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, and related machinery. Duties include preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical faults, and supporting installation and commissioning activities. The role works closely with engineering and production teams to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation. Strong adherence to health and safety standards is essential.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- • Relevant hands‑on experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in quarrying, manufacturing, construction or heavy‑industrial environments
- • Experience working with crushers and crushing plants is highly desirable
- • Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance, equipment servicing and fault‑finding
- • Practical experience with conveyors, bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, gearboxes and other industrial machinery
- • Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and perform effective repairs
- • Ability to work under pressure and respond to equipment breakdowns
- • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and good maintenance practices
- • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
- • Physically fit and comfortable working in a demanding industrial environment
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Carry out preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on crusher equipment and associated machinery
- • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults on crushers, conveyors, feeders and related plant equipment
- • Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdowns occur
- • Perform planned maintenance, servicing and repairs according to established schedules
- • Assist in installation, alignment, adjustment and commissioning of mechanical equipment
- • Dismantle, fit, replace and reassemble mechanical components as required
- • Inspect bearings, shafts, belts, pulleys, gears and other wear parts and recommend replacements
- • Monitor equipment condition and promptly report defects, unusual wear, vibrations and other maintenance needs
- • Respond to plant breakdowns and carry out timely repairs to restore operations
- • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report completed work
- • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve plant reliability
- • Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are properly maintained and used safely
- • Comply with company health and safety procedures, maintenance standards and safe working practices
