Job Description
The Recovery Officer Intern will support the microfinance team by managing delinquent loan accounts, contacting borrowers, and implementing recovery strategies to achieve collection targets. The role involves field visits, negotiation of repayment plans, and maintaining accurate records of all recovery activities. Candidates must have basic qualifications, computer skills, and at least six months of collections experience. This internship offers practical exposure to loan recovery and portfolio management within a performance‑driven environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • KCSE Certificate
- • Diploma or Degree in a relevant field
- • Computer competency
- • Minimum 6 months experience as a Collection Officer in a microfinance institution
- • Strong understanding of loan collections and customer repayment management
- • Applicants must be 35 years of age or below

Responsibilities
- • Manage and follow up assigned long‑outstanding and defaulted loan accounts
- • Contact customers via calls, messages and field visits to secure repayment
- • Develop and implement recovery strategies tailored to each borrower’s situation
- • Negotiate realistic repayment commitments and monitor promises to pay
- • Conduct field visits to support recovery efforts when needed
- • Identify cases requiring immediate action and act promptly
- • Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, commitments and payments
- • Collaborate with collections officers and other teams to enhance recovery outcomes
- • Meet assigned recovery targets and provide regular portfolio updates
