Job Description
The Fiber Optic Technician installs, splices and tests fiber‑optic networks, ensuring high‑quality connectivity for residential and commercial customers. Responsibilities include deploying fiber drops, performing optical measurements, troubleshooting faults and maintaining accurate installation records. The role requires hands‑on technical expertise, attention to detail and the ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or certificate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
- • At least 1–2 years of hands‑on experience with GPON/FTTH installation and fiber splicing.
- • Familiarity with ONU/ONT equipment, optical test tools and basic router configuration.
- • Valid driving licence preferred
- KPLC class 14 is an advantage.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Install fiber drops, ONUs and wireless access points at customer premises following company standards.
- • Perform fiber splicing, termination and optical signal testing using power meters and OTDRs.
- • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity faults, including ONU and wireless AP provisioning issues.
- • Conduct preventive maintenance on distribution boxes, splitters and aerial fiber routes.
- • Document installations, materials used and job completion reports accurately.
